World Renowned Family Violence Expert Esta Soler to Speak at Women’s Center’s 27th Annual Luncheon

STOCKTON – The Women’s Center of San Joaquin County will host its 27th Annual Luncheon, “Creating a World Without Violence,” on Thursday, March 22, 2007 at the Stockton Civic Auditorium. This year’s keynote speaker is Esta Soler, one of the world’s foremost experts on family violence. Soler will discuss efforts to stop violence against women and children in the United States and around the world. She will review recent policies, developments on family violence issues and offer new and innovative strategies to overcome the challenges that face our nation in its effort to eliminate domestic violence.

“The Women’s Center is honored to welcome a pioneer in the field of domestic violence prevention to our event. Esta Soler’s work has been the catalyst behind so many accomplishments in prevention, public education, advocacy, and client services,” Joelle Gomez, Executive Director of the Women’s Center, said.

The Annual Luncheon serves to raise community awareness on family violence and sexual assault issues, and is a key fundraiser for the Women’s Center. All proceeds from the luncheon benefit the agency’s services for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Each year, this sell-out event brings together over 600 community leaders, citizens, business and non-profit representatives in support of the agency’s work with victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Doors for the event open at 11:00 am and the program starts promptly at 11:30 am. Individual tickets are $30.00. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. For more information please contact Kate Macek, Development Director, at (209) 941-2611.
