Home > About the Women's Center ProgramsThe Women's Center provides a wide range of services for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault for women, children, and men. There are a variety of programs that serve the needs of clients and work to raise awareness in the community. Sexual AssaultThis department is committed to serving members of San Joaquin County who are either victims of sexual violence or seeking information about sexual assault and prevention. We offer a wide range of services to community members affected directly by sexual abuse and to those close to them, including crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, advocacy, accompaniment, and referral services. [More Information] Domestic ViolenceThis department is committed to serving victims of domestic violence or anyone seeking information about domestic violence and prevention programs. The Domestic Violence Department offers crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, advocacy, accompaniment, prevention education programs and referral services. Children's ServicesCounseling ServicesThe trauma of sexual abuse can be devastating and without the necessary treatment the effects can last a lifetime. Through the Sexual Assault Department of the Women’s Center of San Joaquin County, certified peer counselors offer services for males and females between the ages of 3 and 17. Sexually abused children often struggle with issues of trust, self-esteem, and forming appropriate relationships. Counseling provides a safe and supportive environment to explore such issues. Prevention ServicesThrough the Sexual Assault Department of the Women’s Center of San Joaquin County, children can receive comprehensive prevention education services. All program services are aimed at enhancing a child’s ability to recognize, avoid, and protect themselves against any form of sexual victimization. Although the focus of the material deals with the prevention of sexual abuse, the concepts learned will also prepare children, if confronted with conditions of intimidation, harassment, abduction, and other forms of sexual violence. All services are confidential within the guidelines of the mandated reporting laws for minors. All services are free of charge and offered in English and in Spanish. CollaborativesThe Women's Center has numerous partnerships with social service organizations, law enforcement agencies, and the criminal justice system. These collaboratives allow us to reach more people and provide the best services possible for our clients. Law EnforcementThe Women’s Center collaborates with Law Enforcement funded under the Office of Emergency Services. We provide the Stockton Police Department with a staff person that is stationed part time at the Stockton Police Department and part time at the Women’s Center. The staff attends roll calls twice a week and provides training to officers. We also provide any direct services that a victim of domestic violence and sexual assault might need. Law Enforcement, CPS, DA’s Office, Probation, Victim Witness, Courts and the Women’s Center have come together with a grant funded from Office of Emergency Services and partly funded by First 5 to assist children affected by domestic violence (CEDV). The funding from First 5 has enabled us to provide a closer collaboration with CPS. We offer a Differential Response Advocate to work with the CPS workers. CalWORKs/Mental HealthThe Women’s Center collaborates with HSA/CalWORKs to provide domestic violence counseling to CalWORKs participants. Participants are referred from Case Managers at Behavior Wellness. |
